He is currently a Professor of Insect Taxonomy and Curator of the Insect Museum at the Department of Plant Protection, School of Agriculture, the University of Jordan. He studied bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the Department of Plant Protection at the School of Agriculture at the University of Jordan and received his doctorate in insect taxonomy from Colorado State University, USA in 1990. Among his research interests is the study of the Jordanian terrestrial and aquatic insects in all regions of Jordan (nature reserves, forests or agricultural areas), as well as the study of bacteria and nematodes pathogenic to insects, and the study of forensic entomology. He was granted the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Young Arab Scientists in Agricultural Sciences. He has more than 90 research papers published in international refereed journals. He supervised master’s and doctoral students in several topics within the various fields of entomology. He has participated in most of the Arabic Plant Protection Society congresses, and he has been a liaison member of the society in Jordan for several years, and a member of the Society’s executive committee. He served as the head of the Honor and Awards Committee for several conferences, and he is currently the Vice-President of the Society.
